Letter to the Editor

The following letter was sent to the Editor of the Penticton Herald following the publication of our February 8th, 2025 News Report:
“Protecting Chute Creek from the next flood”

Dear Editor:
I would like to commend the Chute Creek Stewardship Society on the work already completed for Phase 1. Phase 2 dealing with concrete removal and fish/riparian restoration is to be highly commended.
As a past member of the Penticton and Ellis Creek Restoration Committee, I am well aware of the many obstacles that must be overcome before this project’s completion. Having the ONA and PIB on board from the beginning was a very wise move, as their involvement in the Penticton Creek project was very positive.
The selection of Mould Engineering was a very good choice as their work on Penticton Creek was exemplary. Execution from the planning stage through implementation was flawless.
I commend Dr. Peter Mortifee and the board of directors for their hard work and commitment on this necessary project.
Bill Wickett
